This is a 40 hour per week position with full-time benefits eligibility.
The schedule is primarily daytime, weekday hours but could vary with the needs of the program.
Employment Consultants support job seekers to achieve their goals related to employment.
We accomplish this by; assisting individuals with career assessments, developing career plans, providing career workshops, searching for and obtaining employment opportunities for participants.
Employment Consultants also play an important role in building relationships with the business community to find the best possible job matches and community resources.
This includes networking and outreach to learn the hiring needs of area employers to refer our participants.
Ideal candidates will be outgoing, empathetic, enthusiastic, have good communication and negotiation skills.
Knowledge / Skills needed:
Ability to speak and write in English and Spanish required.
Possess interpersonal skills and professional appearance necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, individuals served, management and customers.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; displays communication that is complimentary to teaching strategies with program participants.
The ability to guide people with challenges/barriers/difficulties towards successful employment.
Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities.
Must have strong writing and computer skills.
Qualifications:
Minimum education of High School or equivalency.
Previous experience working to support vulnerable communities.
Previous experience with job development preferred.
Acceptable background checks & driving record required.
Must have a reliable vehicle and valid drivers' license.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
