09/hr GENERAL SUMMARY The Safety & Security Specialist (Central Office Receptionist) reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Safety & Security and assists with the districts mission to provide the highest quality of education by providing for the Safety & Security of all students, staff, and property.
This position performs a variety of clerical tasks; and provides customer service, which includes operating switchboard, assisting and directing visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provides customer service, which includes answering Springfield Public School Department main line, signing in and directing visitors as well as providing resourceful information.
Ability to professionally manage customer interactions.
Ability to deescalate and manage uncooperative visitors or calls.
Safety and Security office coverage.
Clerical work such as keeping statistics and spreadsheets, maintaining office supplies, answering office phone.
Experience with Microsoft office programs.
Enter Requisitions and purchase orders into district MUNIS system.
Review/Archive/produce video for Police/Court.
Produce staff ID's.
Work with access control system.
Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills.
Attend staff development and training as required.
Assist with daily operation of department.
Performs related duties of a similar nature as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual candidate preferred.
Requires at least 1-2 years of experience in the field.
Relevant associate degree required, or educational requirement may be substituted for at least 3 years of experience in relevant field.
Office / Clerical experience preferred.
Valid Driver's License.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT This position requires employee be in an office, school, and outdoor environment.
Employee is frequently exposed to individuals who are rude or irate and is occasionally exposed to individuals with known violent backgrounds.
