Reviews and assembles the patient medical record in accordance with medical staff rules and regulations and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) guidelines. Analyzes the patient medical record against defined record standards of completion as determined by the organization. Utilizing the appropriate computer system will perform data entry and patient abstracting utilizing appropriate diagnostic and procedure coding guidelines. Maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistent level of productivity is an integral piece of maintaining compliance with JCAHO standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, concurrent and continued patient care, quality improvement activities, appropriate release of information and timely billing of patient accounts. Responsible for prompt retrieval and copying of medical records to support the Release of Information staff. Utilizing the appropriate computer system will verify patient information and dates of services.
Previous experience in hospital medical records department required, capability to work independently, excellent computer skills required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
